Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Jones 5th grade science classes are making daily observations of the moon and recording the data in their moon journals. They were very excited that the evening of September 29th was the first quarter moon. Students created physical models to represent the different phases of the moon and movement of the moon around the Earth in relationship to the sun using flashlights and spheres. So far students have recorded the Fall Equinox and a partial solar eclipse that occurred in Australia during the most recent new moon. Students record the moon's phase and percent lit each day as well as its' location in the sky. When the moon is not observable they use information from timeanddate.com to record the information. Students then make predictions each day on what percent lit it will be and what location it will be in the sky for the next day. Their predictions are becoming more accurate each day! Students will continue to observe and record their scientific observaions of the moon for the complete moon cycle.

Title 1 information

New Statewide Health Initiative

During the 2025 legislative session, Florida Statute 381.992 established the Type 1 Diabetes Early Detection Program.

The Florida Department of Health, in collaboration with Florida school districts, has developed materials to help parents and guardians learn about the early detection of Type 1 diabetes.

👉 These materials are especially for families with children in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade and are now available online.

📄 Check out the Diabetes Early Detection Program >>https://5il.co/3qbx8 or Visit FL Department of Health Diabetes Website

We encourage parents and guardians to review these resources and stay informed.
